After Imperialsim
Even though imperialism ended over 50 years ago in Somalia, the disastrous effects can still be seen today. The lasting effects of imperialism are scattered all around Somalia include piracy, poverty, and lots of crime. With only being controlled completely for generations, all sense of self governing diminished and they do not know how to rule themselves. Once independence was initially achieved, there was a civilian run government for the first few years. From there being no central government, the self-run government of Somalia collapsed from many factions attempting to gain power. There is no stable government in Somalia as of today, rather there are many factions controlling specific parts of Somalia, who are leading the major crime. This unstable government allows piracy of foreign ships that come through the Horn of Africa to continue.
